Raj Kapoor Memorial

The Memorial on Raj Kapoor has been built at MIT Loni Rajbaug campus which is 30 kms away from the Pune city. It is the only museum of its kind in the country which celebrates the creative and passionate actor of all times, Late Shri Raj Kapoor. Raj Kapoor has a great contribution for enriching the Indian cinema. Mr. Kapoor won many awards throughout his career, including 9 FILMFARE AWARDS and 19 nominations. His films AWAARA (1951) and BOOT POLISH (1954) were nominated for the Palme d'Or at the CANNES FILM FESTIVAL. His acting in the former was rated as one of the "Top-Ten Performances of all time", by the Time Magazine. His film JAGTE RAHO (1956) also won the Crystal Globe award at the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival.

The life of Raj Kapoor and scenes from his films are depicted at this Memorial. This Memorial was developed under the guidance of Sanjay Sing, Sanjay Chatterji and Prashant Valukar, directors of Indian Traditional Cultural Centre; they have worked in the RAMOJI FILM CITY and in theme park in Chennai and Hyderabad. Its open for public and it’s not just Raj Kapoor, but statues of Amitabh Bachchan, Rajendra Kumar, Vaijayanti Mala, Nargis, Shashi and Shammi Kapoor and many others have been immortalized here. Scenes from AWAARA, JIS DESH ME GANGA BAHETI HAI and MERA NAAM JOKER have been displayed in the Memorial. The Memorial of seven pagodas is inaugurated on 16th May 2014 in the premises of Raj Kapoor’s bungalow inside Rajbaug Campus.

Arya Chanakya Puraskar


The prestigious "Arya Chanakya Maharashtra awards" is a joint initiative by MIT School of Government and Doordarshan Sahyadri Channel, supported by the Ministry of Cooperation and Parliamentary Affairs (Government of Maharashtra) and Bharatiya Chhatra Sansad Foundation.

The purpose behind giving the "Arya Chanakaya Maharashtra State Awards" is to identify and honour meritorious and accomplished individuals in the State of Maharashtra who have created a lasting impression through their work in the field of Judiciary, Executive, Legislature and Media, which are collectively described as the four pillars of democracy.

Arya Chanakya Nyaya Shreshtha Puraskar

This award is given to a person who is prudent and impartial in the conduct of duty in the field of law or justice or who has pronounced landmark judgements, and thereby raised the overall confidence of the society.

Arya Chanakya Prashasan Shreshtha Puraskar

This award to a person who has undertaken effective action keeping in mind his social obligation and has done noteworthy development work in his area of activity along with the administrative service.

Arya Chanakya Lok Pratinidhi Shreshtha Puraskar

This award is given to a person who after being elected to the legislature, has done exceptional work in terms of sowing the seeds of democratic practices in his constituency, and has brought social transformation.

Arya Chanakya Jan Jagaran Shreshtha Puraskar

This award is given to a person who has created public awareness on important issues in society through the medium of journalism and mass communication.
